While they explore their sound facets more deeply, Shake Stew have remained true to their usual high-energy blend of spiritual jazz and hypnotic grooves somewhere between surrealistic dub, dancehall echo and Afrodelica on their latest long player "Lila". Especially live, the sounds of the septet conceived by bassist and composer Lukas Kranzelbinder have a magical, if not mystical quality - an incredibly special, hypnotic energy that has quickly earned the musicians the reputation of a cult band. And indeed, the trance-like, repetitive patterns drive straight into the body long after the festival has closed, simply because of the double rhythm section with two basses and two drums.
