The Hamburg trio describes its music as "Sixties' psychedelic soul meets breakbeats & modern-vintage". This soulful mélange is spiced up by North and West African sounds, which makes Kazur sound neither Western nor Eastern, neither retro nor modern: While their melodies, for example, could have come from centuries past, many a groove would fit seamlessly into a contemporary hip-hop production. Niklas Stadler on guitar, Melanie Streitmatter on bass and Joshua Weiß on drums have thus created a timeless universe of sound that is highly recognizable. For fans of acts like Khruangbin or Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Kazur is the right choice!
