Max Herre is well versed in jazz. The Freundeskreis rapper (whose biggest hits include “A-N-N-A” and “Mit Dir”) has an extensive collection of old jazz records. And he has long been producing his solo albums with the Munich-based musician Roberto di Gioia, who is known as one of Germany’s most versatile pianists. Di Gioia’s most important band is Web Web, which is often described as a “jazz supergroup”. The quartet is characterised by a tasteful retro sound and smooth, spiritual jazz in the style of Alice Coltrane and Yusef Lateef. Critics are full of praise: “Polished jazz with a sprinkling of soul and pop, performed with irrepressible power”. On their joint album Web Max, Max Herre holds back on the rapping and the singing to perform as a rhythm pianist. A masterful homage to the raw and rugged jazz of the early 1970s – played by five virtuosos whose enthusiasm is guaranteed to captivate the audience in the live show.
