The hip-hop and brass ensemble – made up of seven brass players, two drummers and MC Keno Langbein – has been playing its way into the hearts and ears of the public for ten years now, from the 2012 earworm “Liebe” and the Jan Delay collaboration “Alle Kinder” to their latest hit “Molotow.” The high-energy band formed by the saxophonist Marcus Kesselbauer are no newbies to the ELBJAZZ either: Back in 2012 the Munich musicians and their blend of universally relatable interpersonal themes and high political aspiration were a festival favourite. Their guerrilla performances have brought them into conflict with the law and they aren’t afraid to nail their colours to the mast on Fridays for Future demos. This modern marching band’s musical motto is also admirable and loud: no pre-made beats, no samples, no electronic instruments!
