Songs for Double Trio and Three Voices

There are not many who can put a fresh spin on songs by other artists like Julia Hülsmann. Her cover versions sound “as if she wrote them herself – and her original works sound like standards”. Anyone who has ever heard Hülsmann’s brilliant trio adaptation of Seal’s “Kiss from a Rose” will know exactly what Die ZEIT means … and may even prefer the cover over the original in future. The pianist has already recorded several cover albums, and continues to find new ways to make other musicians look good with adaptations of famous songs.

For her octet, Hülsmann has combined a traditional piano trio (piano, violin and cello) with a jazz trio (piano, double bass and drums). Together with the ECHO Jazz Award winners Eva Kruse and Eva Klesse, as well as renowned singers from Norway, Angola and Germany, Hülsmann performs breath-taking interpretations of songs by Alanis Morissette, Ani DiFranco and Feist.
