HfMT Bigband feat. Lauri Kadalipp

Jazz is popular in the Baltic States, and of course also in Estonia. The country’s first jazz band was formed in 1918 in the capital Tallinn - at a German-speaking school, of all places. 100 years later, Lauri Kadalipp has moved to the Elbe, though not so much because of the language. The Estonian saxophonist and composer is studying at Hamburg’s HfMT for purely musical reasons. He’s involved in numerous projects here, so his powerful tone fits perfectly with the local crossover powerhouse NuHussel Orchestra. For his ELBJAZZ concert, the award-winning band leader, also a successful film music composer, has rearranged the songs he originally composed for smaller groups. Appearing in the guise of the HfMT big band, these cinematic pieces pack a whole new punch.
