Fifteen musicians from six countries perform on Carsten Lindholm’s latest album. For Indispiration, the Danish drummer drew inspiration from a range of different styles and cultures. The result is a restrained sound somewhere between world music, ambient and jazz. At ELBJAZZ, Lindholm boils all these influences down to give a highly distilled performance.

His Scandinavian trio, featuring Jan Gunnar Hoff on the piano and Kristof Broedsgaard on the bass, stands for minimalist sounds that aren’t afraid of venturing into pop-song territory. Lindholm is a sensitive drummer who honed his art in Copenhagen’s jazz clubs over many years, and he also spent several months in the global capital of jazz, New York City. A new album, inspired by greats such as Esbjörn Svensson and Brad Mehldau, is in the pipeline for later in 2019.
